TROY PARKER
2014 | Massachusetts | BOYS
Norton | Lancers | BOYS
Troy Parker is a junior at Norton High School.
The 2013- 2014 hockey season was Norton’s inaugural season.
The rink manager of their home rink provided the team space in an old storage area for the team to establish a locker room. However, there was a lot work to be done to convert this storage area into a locker room. That is where Troy Parker’s character and citizenship as a person rose to the occasion. Troy volunteered to build the team a locker room. He personally raised the necessary funds to purchase the wood and products required. He then assembled the materials and constructed the locker room stalls. He then installed them in the old storage area for his teammates.
Moreover, Troy Parker has demonstrated tremendous character, sportsmanship and teamwork by building a locker room for his teammates. He certainly exhibited “the team before me” by his actions. He has been an essential part of our team. Interestingly, Troy played Forward before this season; however the head coach asked Troy to move back to Defense to help his team. Although Troy truly wanted to play forward, he willing supported the move to play defense. His sportsmanship and team first attitude was inspiring. He never complained or criticized the move. In fact, this new position proved tremendous for the team because Troy was absolutely amazing and played exceptionally well. He would log almost 30 minutes per game in 45 minute game. Troy single handily shut down teams. He was fantastic.
