Troy Ciccarelli
2017 | Colorado | COED
Arapahoe High School | Warriors | COED
I am writing this on behalf of Troy Ciccarelli. My relationship with Troy began five years ago when Troy was exploring a change in association and moved to the Littleton Hockey Association. Troy was headed into his 2nd year of Bantam at that time.
My expectations for the members of the Littleton Hockey Association are high, as I am a former member myself. This is a program that is in its 53rd year of excellence in the Colorado hockey community. It is a program that has not just help produce great hockey players, but great citizens. The Littleton Hockey Association’s core values are: Sportsmanship, Respect For the Individual, Integrity, Pursuit of Excellence, Enjoyment, Loyalty and Teamwork. Troy Ciccarelli is a perfect example of all of these. He is a player who rarely misses team functions, practices or games. He is a player who leads by example through hard work on and off the ice, through honesty and fair play, through humility in victory and being gracious in defeat, and through his understanding of what it means to value the strength of learning to work together.
I have personally coached Troy, as he was a member of LHA’s 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 Midget U18AA Teams. In both years, I was his head coach. During this past season, Troy was the captain of his team. He is a player I trust in any situation to do what is necessary for his team to have success. This would not be possible with the wrong attitude and a lacking work-ethic.
What drives home the fact that Troy is a well deserving recipient of this award is that numerous teammates who were asked about Troy, defined his character in ways that completely align with the true spirit the Hobey Baker Award. Dedication, maturity, leadership, and showing genuine kindness toward both his teammates and the many opponents he has competed against during the years are just a small sampling of the positive things they had to say. They also spoke of the kind of person he is off the ice, both past and present teammates further described Troy as displaying not only the positive attributes that make him the great hockey player he is today, but they said he is honest, compassionate, loyal, and open minded. He truly is a friend to all. His coaches and teammates agree he deserves this recognition, not only for his effort and leadership on the ice but for the person he is off the ice. We are proud to nominate him for the 2016 Hobey Baker Award.
