When thinking about Hobey candidates, your mind goes to the players that excelled and played a lot. But sometimes the kids that don’t play a lot have a greater impact than one initially thinks. For this year’s Hobey selection, we selected a player that embodies Hobey in Character. Excellence. A love for the game. Sportsmanship. As a back up goalie, Thor Lemke doesn’t grace the stat sheet as much as he may want, but his perseverance through his high school hockey career is something all his peers can learn from. His character shows through every time he showed up to a 6 am practice. His love for the game was never in question during 2 a days! Always the sportsman, you never heard anything negative from Thor! His most enduring quality however is perhaps his excellence. Excellence that pushes him to excel in the area of Mathematics, excellence that pushes him to give his all in every practice, and excellence that pushes him to be the best person that he can be!
