Taylor Sears is a three-sport athlete who has followed the integrity and values that are aligned to the Hobey Baker award completely.
She has shown coachability in all aspects of the game, at on-ice practices, off-ice practices, and games. Taylor’s strength of character has shown from a young age and our players old and younger learn each day from her model. The integrity Taylor presents her coaches, classmates, school members, teachers, and teammates is a truly valued quality. Taylor’s sincerity has allowed players to feel welcomed to share and discuss issues, excitements, or ideas with her whenever they need, whether it be during, after, or before season time. Her commitment to her team as a whole from the youngest, least experienced player just learning to skate is outstanding. With a JV team composed of 7-8 players brand new to hockey and a few who have played just a few years, Taylor has taken it upon herself to make sure that each player feels valued, respected, cared for, and heard. Before every single one her Varsity games, you will find Taylor helping tie skates, taping sticks, and helping JV warm up, as well as standing on our JV bench teaching, support, and cheering on her teammates. Taylor has helped create a positive atmosphere and supported our team’s goals for the present and the future. I know that her presentation of self is a direct reference to her humble character and outstanding sportsmanship that positively affects our program and in turn, our community.
