Tanner Chapman is the quintessential student-athlete who embodies the ideal that “Character Builds Excellence.” While his accolades – including All-State honors – speak to his hockey talent, it is his unwavering adherence to our team’s pillars of Respect, Effort, Attitude, and Leadership that truly defines his legacy.
Tanner’s journey is a masterclass in fortitude and persistence. He has faced personal adversity that would have caused many to falter, yet he has consistently demonstrated the ability to rise from the ashes, emerging stronger and more determined. This resilience was once again on full display this past season. Faced with a setback at the beginning of the season, Tanner didn’t complain or diminish his effort. Instead, he showcased incredible integrity and commitment to the teams who embraced him, leading them in scoring, and ultimately being named an All-Star.
His coachability and sportsmanship extend beyond the rink; Tanner also developed into an elite high school golfer and a consistent honors student. This athletic and academic success, backed by a dedicated support system in his parents, Sid and Kristen, and brother, Cole, has shaped him into a community leader who elevates everyone around him.
Tanner does not just play the game; he makes the game better. He has been a steady, guiding force for Huntingtown over the last four years, proving that true excellence is not just about the points on the scoreboard, but the strength of the character within. He’s the prime example that it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.
