Waseca Girls High School Hockey | Blue Jays | GIRLS
Sierrah Baaken was a senior captain this year who took pride in leading her team. With a new coaching staff, she was committed to closing the gap between coaches and players. She assisted in many aspects including equipment handout and where things were in the arena, supporting new structure of on and off ice practices, leading the team to buy into new philosophies. Sierrah was very coachable, playing both defense and forward and trying to understand systems as much as possible through hands on practice and asking questions. Sierrah’s strength of character and teamwork was proved when the team started to get in a lull during season, however each and every day she continued to work hard and push her teammates to be better. Sierrah’s attitude gave the team something to build off of. Sierrah helped in community building by participating in our BlueJay program that helps to create bonds between varsity players and the youth program. Sierrah always showed sportsmanship and it was noticed by others when she earned the sportsmanship award during our game against Windom.
