Countdown to Hobey:

RYAN CORDEIRO

2018 | Rhode Island | BOYS

MT. HOPE HIGH SCHOOL | HUSKIES | BOYS

I have known Ryan Cordeiro as his Head Ice Hockey Coach. He is a senior at Mt. Hope High School, where he participated in the boy’s hockey program the last four years.

In all my years of experience, some individuals stand out for their great qualities and Ryan is one of those people.

He is well known for his personal qualities: intelligence, work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork mentality, leadership, and diligence. He is well respected among the hockey team for being the go-to guy for getting things done. As captain of the team, he established a direct channel to me, as well as the rest of the coaching staff.

Throughout the time I’ve known him, he has shown me repeatedly that he is a positive, motivated leader with great potential.

During his time at Mt. Hope High School, he played an important role in volunteering and encouraged that other members of the team also meet their community service obligation(s). As the coach of this program, I highly recommend community service to all our team members, as it generates high praises invigorating the stance of the school in our district and community. In fact, he was so effective, he would volunteer every year – and get his teammates to follow through as well, at the following Ocean State Rhode Races in Narragansett, Newport and Bristol, RI. His assorted responsibilities included – Registration, handing out gear bags, manning numerous Aid Stations, dispensing athlete’s nourishment, water, etc.

That said, Ryan has always treated me, as well as our coaching staff with respect, and he made certain the rest of his teammates followed suit. In my estimation, he has represented the high school in an exemplary way and was always ready to make sacrifices for the school since his overall family values has led him to his goal to contribute time to his community.

In summary, due to his great attitude, dedication, and excellent potential, I would emphatically recommend that you acknowledge Ryan for the prestigious 2018 Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
