Countdown to Hobey:

Ricky Brown

2018 | California | BOYS

Dublin High School | Gaels | BOYS

Every year, coaches look for players who can step up and lead a team. This year was no different for the Dublin Gaels. After losing key graduating players and adding a number of Freshman to the group, we needed someone to help set direction and provide unity for the team. Our High School season is a sprint and someone needed to help anchor the group right from the start.

Over the last few years, Ricky has matured as both a player and a person. Gone are the days where scoring goals was all that mattered. Today, as a graduating Senior, Ricky does whatever it takes to help the team. As a career forward, he helped the Gaels at defense when our team was short defensemen (which was often). He knew when to rush the play and when to stay at home. As a forward, he made the players around him better by trusting them even their skill wasn’t as high as his.

While the a great team cannot rely on a single player to win, Ricky was a big part of our success and helped us get back to the playoffs by providing Senior leadership on the ice and in the locker room. He will be missed for his leadership skills, but the Gael family thanks him for setting the stage for future players.
