Letter of Recommendation for Hobie Baker Award and Scholarship Regarding Reidar Burgeson.

To whom it may concern,

My name is John Koehler. I have been a private and public school teacher in the State of Michigan for twenty-five years and a youth hockey coach for the past fifteen years.

Over the years I have enjoyed working and helping hundreds of students and athletes try to achieve their goals and pursue their ambitions. When asked to write this letter for Reidar I replied that it would be an honor and a pleasure as he is one of the finest student/athletes I’ve known.

Reidar is our high school Varsity Lakeshore/St. Joseph team captain in his senior year. Reidar is a true leader by example and always has displayed a strong work ethic.

Along with a tireless work ethic Reidar is always positive with teammates, goes the extra mile and is always first in line in practice drills and never gives less than 100% effort. Reidar has always been respectful and willing to listen to instruction and learn from coaches.

As a teammate Reidar is highly skilled and has lead the league in scoring for two seasons. He has a great presence on the ice and with his personality he is popular and well liked off the ice also. Even as a senior and captain of the team Reidar never misses an opportunity to help, even if it’s picking up pucks or filing water bottles. Reidar also excels in academics and seems to possess the same work ethic towards his studies. He is involved in the community and has served in clubs at school that help those in need.

I am confident that Reidar is deserving of this award and in his future will make a great addition to any team, university, business or organization.
