The Hobey Baker award is about: Integrity,positive attitude, coach ability, outstanding sportsmanship and community spirit.  I couldn’t think of anyone better that excels in these areas like Phaylen Meyer does.

Phaylen is a great leader both on and off the ice. On the ice she is a very passionate and committed player.  She is very determined and puts in the time and effort to do whatever it takes to help the team be successful.  When it comes to games and practices she gives 100% all the time and puts so much of her heart into the game. She is the type of player that makes it a pleasure to get on the ice and coach everyday.  Off the ice, Phaylen is one of the most genuine people I have ever been around.  She is an incredible teammate and friend to the people around her.  As a coach, I couldn’t be more proud of the way she’s handled and performed this season by giving our team the up-most opportunity to win games day in and day out.  Phaylen has been the core of our team this year stopping over 40 shots most games. She’s a player that gives her all every single day and is continually improving her game.  Phaylen was voted Captain by her teammates two years in a row and has been a tremendous role model for not only Centennial Girls Hockey, but also the Centennial community.

Phaylen is a very special young woman.  She is a player that coaches dream to have on their team.  She is a young woman that carries herself respectfully with high integrity, morals, values, and responsibility.  Centennial is lucky to have a student athlete like Phaylen to represent our community. She challenges herself academically with advanced courses, she participates in many extra-curricular activities, she represents the state of Minnesota and Centennial High School very respectfully, she is one of the most coachable players I have had the opportunity to coach, and last but not least she is an incredible goaltender.  Phaylen over the course of her career has proven to be a top goaltender.  Overall, I believe that Phaylen Meyer is very deserving to be recognized for the Hobey Baker award.  She represents what this award is all about both on and off of the ice.
