I’ve had the honor to coach Nick over the course of several seasons. We have achieved success together in winning a state championship, and we’ve shared rough seasons in which our teams were not so successful. It goes beyond being a good teammate, he is loyal to the entire community. Regardless of school or association he treats all players as if they’re his own teammate. What is most inspiring to me now is watching him conduct himself in his last season as a high school player. Not only is he the same kid I’ve been coaching for the last few years, he is becoming a leader in ways I didn’t know he was capable of. He is teaching our underclassmen through his speech and his actions. While I would like to take even a shred of credit for this, it’s simply not the case. Nick is a being entirely of his own making, I was just fortunate enough to watch it all unfold.
