Atholton High School | Raiders | BOYS
Team Leadership Characteristic:
Nick’s leadership on and off the ice garners the respect of all players and coaches of the Atholton Raiders. His efforts and positive attitude as both a teammate, as a Varsity Captain and a Student Coach of the JV team, Nick elevates each player to a new level of confidence, resilience, and honor. Nick has strived to recruit more hockey players to build the team and instilled a love of the game in those that have never played before. He is very serious when it comes to competition and discipline while maintaining the camaraderie and respect of his team, coaches and classmates. Nick is a great communicator ensuring that the coaching staff’s directions are being followed such as pre-game warmups, locker room preparedness, and ensuring that all players are working to improve themselves. When Nick broke his Shoulder (Twice), Nick continued to be part of the Varsity team attending all the practices and games. He also was a Student Coach for the Junior Varsity and actively participated in all Atholton Ice Hockey activities. In addition to his leadership on the hockey team, Nick is the Company Commander for the Delta Unit of the JROTC at Atholton High School. Making him a Captain this year was a very easy decision.
Exceptional hockey skills:
A four year member of the Atholton Hockey Team, Nick has played both as a Defenseman and as a Forward, always willing to play wherever he was needed and as such Nick embraced the Atholton team concept. He actively participated in four Howard Conference Championships games (two on-ice, two injured).
Superior Work Ethic:
Nick gives his “allâ€_x009d_ personally and academically without question on and off the ice. He has been a Maryland Student Hockey League (MSHL) Academic All-Star and a Howard County All-Star. Nick is very well-rounded as he played on the Varsity Golf team and given many community service hours in addition to playing on the Atholton Raiders hockey team. Nick leads by example with work ethic and determination as his greatest strengths and continues to seek out and resolve challenges in everything he does. This effort has led Nick to be accepted at several Universities as well as receive a ROTC scholarship as he plans to pursue a career in the military following college.
