Countdown to Hobey:

Nathan Reilly

Nathan Reilly | Hatboro-Horsham Hatters | BOYS

At the age 17, Nathan Reilly’s hockey resume already overflows with accomplishment. His success on the ice can be attributed to his strength of character, outstanding sportsmanship, commitment to improving his game and the game of those around him. Nathan truly embodies and exemplifies every aspect of the Hobey Baker Award – possibly the most important being his incomparable leadership in the community and ability to overcome adversity.

Prior to his first birthday, Nathan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) – an autoimmune disease that requires a demanding regimen to maintain proper insulin levels. He has raised thousands of dollars and dedicated countless hours to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). As a JDRF Junior Ambassador for the past five years, Nathan has attended the Promise Ball, walked in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk to Cure Diabetes, and spoken with Senators and members of Congress in an effort to raise awareness and additional funds to find a cure.

Remarkably, Nathan still found time to support the Special Olympics, Dog Town (rescue program), and the Topps Organization. He has used his success on the ice to support younger athletes as a demonstrator and instructor for the Philadelphia Flyers Learn to Play, Hatboro-Horsham and Warwick Wildcats programs. He has also served on his high school’s Student Council (2 years) and the Advisory Board (4 years) in addition to his induction to the National Honor Society in 2017.

It is with great honor that Hatboro-Horsham Ice Hockey’s very own Captain, Nathan Reilly, has been selected as a recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
