Marshfield High School did not have a goaltender 5 years ago, so the program received a waiver to bring up 8th-grader Morgan Murphy. Morgan moved to Marshfield in 8th grade and was immediately thrust into the role of Varsity goaltender. Not knowing many players and jumping in at the varsity level, she showed amazing grace and resiliency through the ups and downs of her first season. Over the next few years, as she adapted to a new home, a new team, and a new role on the ice, she put in the work in and out of season to develop into an amazing goalie. While becoming a trustworthy teammate and a champion for the younger players, she was voted team Captain for her junior and senior years. Morgan has exemplified the characteristics of a great teammate and player. She is a true example of the character traits that exemplify the Hobey Baker Award- strength of character, integrity, commitment, teamwork, community building, and outstanding sportsmanship.
