Assabet Valley’s Max Sullivan has been a mainstay of the varsity ice hockey team for the past two seasons. A strong defender and puck mover, Max was an integral part of Assabet’s back to back historically successful seasons. Regardless of the tone of a game, he approached every shift with intensity and passion; however, as importantly, he contributed a high level of sportsmanship to every one of those shifts. He was a champion of fair play. He respected everything about the game of ice hockey including opposing players and coaches, game officials and administrators, and his own teammates and coaches. Max was an excellent example of the team before me athlete in that no moment was too big or too small for him. He would play with anyone, wherever and whenever he was asked. His wit and good natured manner made him a favorite in the locker room as did his empathetic words of encouragement and pats on the back to teammates in need. In exhibiting these characteristics both on and off the ice since the fall of 2019, Max has consistently modeled the leadership qualities that continue to make him an exemplary representative of our ice hockey program and the Assabet Valley Tech community at large. It is with great joy that we add him to Assabet Valley’s list of previously recognized athletes of outstanding character. Max Sullivan is Assabet Valley’s 2022-2023 Hobey Baker High School Character Award winner. Congratulations Max !
