Having coached Max in years past, I was very excited to have the opportunity to nominate him for this character award. Max has always been a positive presence in the locker room and on the bench. During and after drills, Max is always quick to compliment a fellow player on their effort and performance. More importantly, Max offers words of encouragement when things do not go well. He realizes that being positive and friendly will lift not only the spirits of the individual but that of the entire team. Max shows the same level of kindness and respect to all players regardless of individual talent. From a coaching perspective, Max is always engaged, attentive, and respectful. These are the personal attributes that make Max so deserving of the Hobey Baker award.
