Matthew, as our starting goalie, is the first one on the ice during practices and is always the last to leave. He has been found numerous times mentoring younger players long after practices have ended and coaches have left. We unanimously named Matthew Team Captain both his junior and senior year. Many times he has carried our program and his teammates on his shoulders, always with grace. Matt faced so many shots during the season that his white home jersey had actually turned black from all the pucks he saved. He never once complained and continually maintained the stoic poise of a silent professional. Matt never turns his back on a challenge and thrives during times of adversity. Always leading by example and placing the needs of others before his own, the way a true leader does, Matthew has always fulfilled his duties with loyalty, honor and integrity.
