Maria Langer is one of those players that you will not see on the scoring sheet or the high light reels. Maria has a great story. Maria tried out for the High School team in her sophomore year. With the way the numbers sat with our team Maria had to be sent to the U15 team. She was the only player that was sent down. This was very hard for Maria along with myself. Maria kept practicing and playing hard. Attended all summer camps, practiced very hard on her shooting at home alone. Came back out her Junior year to make the Junior Varsity team. Competed to her fullest and was a captain of that team and a great leader. Her hard work and determination motivated others to work to their fullest. Maria kept working hard with her hockey attending all summer camps again. By her Senior year Maria found a spot on the varsity team. She is everything this award stands for. Cheers the other girls on from the bench, works harder than anyone during every practice. Volunteers her time with the youth. Maria exemplify’s Hobey Baker.
