Maddy Carstens
2018 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Albert Lea Varsity Hockey | Tigers | GIRLS
Maddy has shown what it means to be a true leader this year. Throughout her high school career, she has had a rough experience with bad coaches. This year with a new coach, she could have shut down but she did the opposite. She thrived. She took everything in stride and with a smile on her face. When she speaks, the whole room listens. She is a National Honor Society member, has a 4.0 GPA, volunteers at the local nursing home, as well as helps out the youth in the community. To go along with her off-ice leadership, she has been the leading scorer on the team for the last 2 years. She finished this year with the most points of any year of her career, was on the powerplay and penalty kill, and first line center for the whole year. In practice, she asks questions, tries new things, and pushes the rest of the team with her undying work ethic to be the best she can. She is extremely coachable and everyday displays her passion for the sport and her strong character. Maddy is the definition of a true competitor and and even better person!
