Mackenzie Dawes is our selection for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. She displayed true sportsmanship this season in how she approached every game. She battled hard on the ice with her teammates, respected the opponent and did whatever the team needed her to do with a positive mindset. Whether it was to go on the ice and play smart positioning, skating hard every shift, helping with the penalty kill if we were down a player or serving a penalty for a teammate. Mackenzie is very coachable. She listened, asked questions and worked hard to become a more complete hockey player. For her to never quit and have a strong desire to compete against boys at her age speaks volumes. Mackenzie is inspiring to the coaches and her teammates. She always has a smile on her face and has a positive outlook on life in everything she does. Any extra curricular activities we did as a team off the ice she was involved to help out. She has a great personality and the coaches couldn’t have selected a more deserving athlete for this award!
