Every team I have seen has always had its own individuals: the leaders, the hard-workers, the scholars, the ones’ with personality; however, Lydia is one of the few that I have ever encountered who contains all of the best characteristics that make a successful student, athlete, and most of all, person. Lydia is always the first person to the rink and last person to leave. I always notice her working and talking with her teammates to help them prepare for their next challenge. As a coach, I have never seen a player on a team that deserved to be a captain more than Lydia. In fact, her teammates did not either. She was one of the first players that I have ever seen to be unanimously voted in as a captain by her teammates. In addition to her success on the ice and as a leader, Lydia is an outstanding student. She has put in a lot of work in the classroom and it has resulted in her having a cumulative GPA above a 4.0 her senior year. Overall, Lydia is wise beyond her years and already has many of the characteristics that one needs to be successful in life. She always stays motivated, helps motivates others, believes in hard-work over taking the easy way out, and always has a smile on.
