Lydia Barnes embodies all of the qualities that a player should be. Leadership, sportsmanship, hard working and a love for the game. She was chosen to be one of our captains last season by her teammates as a junior and was unanimously voted captain again this season by her teammates. This speaks volumes to her leadership qualities. She leads this team with compassion and a strong work ethic. Lydia is always the first to congratulate a teammate, opponent, official and coach on a good game or an accomplishment. She is a fierce competitor but at the end of the game, is always ready and willing to shake hands and say “great game.” Lydia works hard on and off the ice to sharpen her skills, from watching film to working out to playing in the off season she is always pushing herself and her teammates to be better and making sure to always have a bit of fun while doing it. Her hard work has been paying off as she has earned 27 career shutouts and has only allowed 8 goals this season in 18 games played to date. Lydia wishes to continue her playing career at the next level and has the skills and the drive to do so. She has been a pleasure to coach these last 4 years and will be sorely missed as a player but also as the young woman she has come to be.
