Luke Lonneman
2017 | Colorado | BOYS
Valor Christian High School | Eagles | BOYS
In January of 2016, Luke Lonneman enrolled at Valor Christian High School midway through his sophomore year. His competitive drive and passion for the game was immediately felt.
In the fall of 2016, Luke Lonneman was the unanimous selection as our team captain.
Luke truly embodies our Hockey program’s core values.
Luke was the hardest working player during practice and the most consistent player to attend Performance training sessions throughout the year.
As our team captain, I watched closely as Luke dealt with issues involving the team. I was impressed with his personable and mature approach to these issues.
Luke was very detail oriented and many times would remind me of things that I may have overlooked.
Luke always set the tone for practice and training with his very competitive drive and his “follow meâ€_x009d_ example.
The way he interacted with his teammates and staff highlighted his christian character and belief that you “do unto others as you would have them do unto youâ€_x009d_. He was highly respected by his teammates because of his work ethic, trust and loyalty.
His strong leadership qualities were always visible. Even when his play was the major reason for a victory, he would downplay his performance. When we lost however, he shouldered the blame. As our captain, he also led our team in scoring for the year.
I am proud to nominate Luke Lonneman for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award as he typifies what this award is all about.
