It is my privilege to recommend Linus Kane, a Tampa Prep student-athlete and member of Tampa United, as a candidate who exemplifies the ideals of the Hobey Baker Award – character, integrity, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect for the game. As his high school coach for several years, I can state without hesitation that Linus consistently demonstrates these values both on and off the ice.

Since beginning my coaching career in 1996, I have worked with athletes at every level of the sport. Among them, Linus stands out for his maturity, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. He approaches every practice, game, and academic responsibility with discipline, humility, and accountability, setting a standard for his peers.

Linus is a natural leader who elevates those around him through example, encouragement, and mentorship. Younger players look to him for guidance, and his presence has helped foster a culture of respect, unity, and accountability within the Tampa United program.

Equally important, Linus competes with integrity and a deep respect for the game of hockey. His sportsmanship is evident in both victory and defeat, and he consistently represents Tampa Prep, Tampa United, and the sport itself with class.
