Leah Schrank
2014 | Minnesota | GIRLS
St. Louis Park | | GIRLS
Leah is one of those unheralded student athletes that works hard in school – 3.62 GPA, spends a lot of time working with our youth program girls, is not highly skilled but puts in a tremendous amout of time training for hockey. She has an incredible desire to make herself and others better. She has been on the high school team since 8th grade and has always been the first person at the training facility and strongly encourages her less motivated teammates to join her. As a senior, that committment was rewarded when her teammates selected her as Co-Captain. She has done everything we have asked her to do. She began the year on our third line playing with the two freshman. She was a positive influence on them and helped them adapt to what we do here. We moved her around a few times early in the season before we asked her to becomea regular on defense. Her strength and quiet determination made us better on the blue line. She never complained or questioned why we asked her to move, she did them because it was for the team. She plays aggressively and passionately.
