One thing stands out about L.J. — she’s never without a smile.

She started hockey later than most, so her first year in organized hockey was spent practicing with younger girls, yet never with the reward of playing in games. It’s obvious her love for the game and positive attitude drove her, because I remember admiring how much she had improved in the two years I hadn’t seen her.

She’s now an inspiration to her teammates and, more importantly, a great friend. She is frequently seen at the rinks cheering for the organization’s teams, regardless what age she is watching.

We have some wonderful young ladies on our team, but they all felt L.J. was the only choice for this award.
