Kellen Maher
2024 | Minnesota | BOYS
Tartan North | Titans | BOYS
It has been a pleasure to have coached Kellen. Kellen is a two-time Captain in his three years as a Varsity player. His leadership was important on a very young and inexperienced team. Kellen’s character has always been a tremendous asset and it is shown by being a mentor to many of his teammates who had no Varsity or even High School hockey experience. Kellen has motivated and helped shape many of these young players into young men.
Kellen is constantly the first to sign up for community service hours. He is very dependable by always showing up on time and enjoys interacting with the community. Kellen would instruct at the youth hockey clinics, and he has helped set up the youth’s fundraising events. He even found time to help clean up at the local baseball park this past fall.
The commitment and dedication Kellen shows toward his schoolwork and being a true student-athlete is exhibited every day. Even with many AP classes, Kellen carries a very high grade point average this year during the hockey season. Kellen has an excellent work ethic and his devotedness towards practices, games, or any hockey training activity. Kellen is a very coachable player by always trying to apply what has been asked or instructed and encourages his teammates to do the same.
We at Tartan North are very honored to have Kellen Maher as our 2023-24 Hobey Baker Award winner.
