Katrina is a great hockey player who is very focused on the team and playing her role on the team. Over the course of her career she has grown to be one of our best defensemen. What makes her such a great team player is that she is not flashy puck handler or skater, does not score a bunch of goals, and seldom gets recognition even though she is one of the first players we put on the ice in critical moments of the game. Being on a team that has reached the highest levels of success over the past 3 seasons that any girls’ team in LDC’s history has ever reached, it could be easy to get caught in the excitement and look to get some credit for yourself, but Katrina has never done this. I believe that this is very unique for a high school athlete to be so team centered and such a leader that they are not concerned at all who gets credit for a goal or assist, only that team itself is having success.
