Katie is a senior on this high school team primarily made up of younger underclassmen. Our younger team experienced many character building moments as we worked hard to keep up with bigger, older teams with greater experiences and skills in our conference this season. Katie, one of our team captains, demonstrates and personifies the ideal athlete facing adversity. She prepares for competition by pushing the limits of her skills in practice. She competes to the last second of each game, giving 100% on every shift. Along the way, she encourages her teammates to try harder with constructive and positive feedback. She sets the example by not shying away from the difficult tasks and instead seeks to carry the team on shoulders and address the challenge head-on. Put me in, Coach, I’ll get it done. Katie loves this game and she personifies the Hobey Baker reputation of character and excellence in the face of adversity. I’m proud to nominate her for this well-deserved award.
