Fallston High School Ice Hockey wishes to nominate Joshua Webster for the Hobey Baker Award because of his extraordinary excellence in education, his history of high school athletics and outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities. Josh embodies excellence in all that he does, and has made significant contributions to well-known institutions, and to his community.
Current Education Enrollment. Josh is a High School Senior with County approved dual enrollment at Harford Community College in order to achieve a higher learning in mathematics and physics. At Harford Technical High School, he studies in the engineering CADD Magnet Program. The school is essentially divided into two halves; one being traditional vocational/technical trades and the other being advanced magnet programs, such as Engineering CADD, Sports Medicine, Cyber Security, and several others. During his sophomore year, Josh doubled up on math, taking Trigonometry and Honors Pre-Calculus. This allowed him to take AP Calculus in his junior year. He attended Harford Community College in fall 2016, completing Calculus II and calculus based Physics I. He is currently enrolled (spring 2017) in Calculus III and Physics II.

Interests/Hobbies/Activities: Josh has volunteered more than 100 hours with Veterans at the Baltimore VA Rehabilitation Center. He has worked with youth through sports, teaching, and referring soccer. He enjoys scuba diving, boating, snow skiing, sports, fitness, mind challenging games, building & fixing things.
Future Educational Goal: Josh wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has been offered an appointment at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He has been accepted in the University of Maryland, School of Engineering, and has an application pending with Princeton University.
It is without hesitation that Joshua Webster is deserving of the 2017 Hobey Baker High School character award. Josh’s long and quickly growing list of accomplishments demonstrates his strength as an individual, his excellence in service, personal accountability and integrity. Josh demonstrates an unwavering degree of discipline and commitment. We see a bright future for Josh as a team leader and mentor. His accomplishments are already changing lives and he shines as a beacon in the community.
