I have had the pleasure of knowing Josh DeBoer and his family for the past 13-plus years. In that time, I have seen Josh grow into a very responsible and mature young adult. I have had extensive contact time with Josh during his tenure at La Crescent High School. In that time he has displayed nothing but exemplary work and behavior.                                                

I had the opportunity to coach Josh in High School Hockey for the past four years and he was elected to be our team Captain for his senior year. During all of his seasons, he consistently exemplified what it meant to be a leader and role-model on the ice, in the classroom, and out in the community for his younger teammates/classmates to emulate. He truly is a community leader, and a person for his classmates to emulate.

Josh is one of our Alternate Captains of the LaCrescent High School Hockey team. Usually, that is not a reason just to hand out an award; especially one of this magnitude.

Words like Integrity, Coachability, Selflessness, and Citizenship are used in consideration of receiving this prestigious award; by ALL means Josh demonstrates ALL of these and is a perfect candidate to receive the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
