I have coached John for a few years now and he has demonstrated tremendous character. He is a multi sport athlete with work ethic and dedication that is second to none. John is not only a great athlete but he has always been very respectful to me and his peers. He is a natural leader. When I first became coach I was warned that John got a lot of penalty minutes and fought a lot. Since being his coach I realized this was nothing but an unfounded rumor. He has shown great respect for me and I haven’t had any discipline issues at all. I also have had the pleasure of teaching John in an academic realm and he is equally as special in the classroom. He is devoted to his studies and takes pride in his work. He understand student athlete requires being a student first and when he doesn’t understand something he will put in the extra time to learn it. I can’t speak highly enough about John and the experiences I have had the opportunity to mentor him in. I know he deserves recognition for his efforts and I am proud to nominate him for the 2016 Hobey Baker Award.
