Countdown to Hobey:

Jason Pazulski

2015 | Maryland | BOYS

Atholton | Raiders | BOYS

Superior work ethic

Every game, shift, practice drill, systems practice, or whiteboard session, Jason gives 110% physically and mentally. He works as leader with the players and when necessary, offers specific advice to his team mates, particularly in situational play. Although quiet, Jason’s attitude and effort could easily be instilled in others due to his work ethic and teaching skills.

Exceptional hockey skills

An incredible player as a Forward, Jason is very versatile and agile skater and stick handler, he had not met a one-on-one competitor that he could equalize or dominate.  Jason makes a weaker line competitive and an average line dominant. Jason is a clear differentiator when he steps onto the ice. Jason professes the Atholton team approach that has given us 4 consecutive Howard Conference titles and a Maryland State Championship, sacrificing his personal glory, statistics, and accolades for the betterment of the team. Jason has had a total of 5 penalties in 12 years of Hockey with 1 penalty in 4 years of High School Hockey. That’s an exceptional statistic.

Team leadership characteristics

Since Jason’s freshman year, Jason has shown leadership in school, on the ice, in the locker room, and outside the rink. Academically, Jason currently has a 4.29 weighted GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society, has been an academic all-star every year, and has been accepted to his first choice college, the University of Maryland at College Park.  He has assisted other players and students academically as part of his team approach. Competitors respect him and his team honors him. The coaches do not need to lead him as he is a de facto extension of the Coaching Staff.
Although quiet-spoken, Jason is very serious when it comes to competition, discipline, and respect.  Jason is at the forefront when it comes to adaptation of the team’s systems, culture, and sportsmanship.  He has mentored many players on the JV team as well and regularly comes to the JV games in support.
