Janine, a dedicated high school hockey player, has always been the quiet force within our team. While others reveled in the spotlight, Janine preferred to work diligently, both on and off the field. Her four-year journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
Janine joined the hockey team as a freshman with a shy smile. Her skills are not flashy, and she rarely scores goals. What Janine lacks in showmanship, she makes up for in heart. During practices, while teammates chatted and talked about their day, Janine was the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Janine never misses a game or more importantly, a practice. Her commitment to the team remained unwavering.
The way Janine encourages the struggling freshman during drills, the selfless passes that set up others for goals, and the genuine joy she expresses when a teammate succeeded. She never sought recognition; she is content knowing she is contributing to the team’s success. Her character speaks louder than any goal or assist.
We are a team—a family. And together, we have overcome challenges, celebrated victories, and learned the true meaning of character.
