Jacob Bierschenk
2014 | Missouri | BOYS
Lafayette High School | Lancers | BOYS
In the 2013-14 season Jacob had to take the varsity team on his shoulders and even though the outcomes were not always positive Jacob handled them with pride and maturity. As a goaltender for Lafayette’s high school program Jacob has been met with many challenges and had met each one head on. As a sophomore Jacob was focused on the skill of the game, but he quickly learned that there is more to this sport than just being able to play it. Over the past three years he has grown into the most respected player from both the coaches and players perspective. Without even demanding it he has earned the role of a leader by simply doing the right thing and giving everything he has to the organization.
Proof of this is as recent as the beginning of this, his senior, season. With limited players in the goaltender position we were not able to run full practices at the JV level. Without a sound or complaint Jacob offered his time to the team until we were able to bring another goaltender in. Having been around this high school sport for a while I recognized this an action of a player who understands the value of a team.
Jacob will be graduating this spring and is looking forward to a college experience where he will be studying to become an Engineer. There is no doubt that his perseverence and his leadership qualities will make him a success in anything he chooses. Well that is if the shell shock of too many shots doesn’t do him in first!
