Last season during the state Junior varsity tournament Jackson allowed his goaltending team to stay in the championship game despite the coaches wanting to change goaltenders halfway through the game. In of itself maybe not too big of a deal except the other goaltender’s father was admitted to the hospital that morning due to complications from a long battle with cancer. The totally unselfish act along with the team winning the game brought me as his coach to tears. I have never in all my years had a player do something like that and not sure I ever will. That is one in many reasons why Jackson is so deserving but that one alone is more than enough so please accept my nomination of Jackson Habrock for the Hobey Baker Award from Rushmore Hockey Association.
