One month after his Junior hockey season ended, Jackson’s mom, Kari passed away after a battle with cancer. Heartbreaking at any age, but particularly heading into his senior year. During his senior season, Jackson was named captain, and led the Pirates on the blue line. He also helped his team raise over $14,000 for a local cancer charity during the Pirates Hockey Fights Cancer game in January. Through this whole time Jackson has never missed a practice, is always willing to help whether it’s cleaning the locker room, or picking up a teammate who is down, and has shown a level of maturity and character that I don’t think I would have had I been placed in his shoes. He’s a fantastic young man and I’m so proud to have coached him.
