I’ve coached Ian for two seasons now. He is the most committed player that I have had for the two seasons. Last season he was at every practice and every game and so far this year he has had perfect attendance for practices and games as well. Ian is a leader by example and because of that he was voted as one of the co-captains for our team this year. One story I have about Ian is from last season when we we’re playing a team with a stand out player. I talked to Ian before the game and told him I thought if he shadowed that player for the entire game, it would give our team the best chance to win. I also told him it probably wasn’t going to be as much fun for him, then it would if he didn’t have to shadow the player. He responded with I want to help the team. He did this on two separate occasions for us and he was successful both times. Both the team and I applauded his efforts and appreciated his commitment to his team. This is why I nominate Ian for the 2018 Hobey Baker, he’s true leader and team player.
