Ian Champagne is a young man of character who personifies the Hobey Baker spirit on and off the ice. This twice-selected First Team All-League goaltender and defensive player of the year is the ultimate teammate. This servant leader always puts the needs of others before his own; always. Ian volunteers his time to teach local disadvantage youth how to skate during semi-annual free skating events hosted by a local not-for-profit. He led the annual learn to play event during the high-schools family fun day as well. He even shovels the driveways of his elderly neighbors every snowfall. But most impressive, Ian is the often-cited answer the underclassman give to our local broadcaster’s question: who positively influences you most? An answer extending to the marching band where Ian has mentored section members even tutoring them with their academics throughout the year. He is active in several school clubs and volunteers to help several local not-for-profits raise money through sales and donation. Ian exemplifies a well-balanced lifestyle too, helping spiritually by serving in several voluntary capacities for his local church.
