Ian Ahlberg exemplifies the characteristics defined by the Hobey Baker Award through his academic excellence, community involvement and service to his peers. In addition to being a three-year letter winner and multisport athlete, participating in cross country, hockey and tennis, Ian serves as a USA Hockey Certified Level 3 referee. Academically, he excels in the classroom. Ian been named to the Academic All-State Team in 9th-12th grade for all three sports he has participated in. He currently ranks 7th out of 329 students with a 4.36 GPA and is a member of the Aberdeen Central High School National Honor Society. Additionally, he works as a math tutor, serving other high school students. Ian has been accepted to the University of Minnesota and Michigan. He plans to study chemistry with a career goal of becoming a pharmaceutical researcher.
