Hector is a caring and compassionate young man that everyone enjoys being around, but most of all, who has not let his intellectual disabilities become an obstacle in his life achievements. He works hard toward reaching his goals and is eager to be successful no matter what the task. A testament to this is his successful engagement in a variety of extracurricular activities at Middle Creek High School such as the drama club and the track and field team, in addition to participating in vocational experiences in the community. Hector stays physically active all year round by participating in different sports teams with the Special Olympics NC like soccer, basketball and softball and, additionally, he is a passionate and fearless hockey player with the Triangle Special Hockey Association’s Cat 5 Canes team. Hector is an inspiration to us and his happiness and joy are so contagious that he always finds a way to bring people of all ages and abilities together.
