Countdown to Hobey:

Hailey Davis

2023 | Rhode Island | GIRLS

Cranston Thunderbirds Girls Hockey | Thunderbirds | GIRLS

Hailey Davis is a lacrosse goalie by trade,
She did the the learn the skate when she was 4 and 5 years of age, and decided she wanted to try basketball. Through the years she played all sports but fell in love with lacrosse. It wasn’t until her freshman year, she heard our teams goalie received a concussion in the first game with no backup goalie. Hailey didn’t hesitate and said she would be our goalie. She got her goalie equipment that day and began right away at practice. Hailey would show up everyday and take over the starting goalie duties with no experience. She would go on and see anywhere from 40-50 shots a game. This continued over the next several years because we still never had another goalie. Although we would lose just about every game she always had a positive attitude towards the coaches and the team. With her taking over the team her Junior year it was determined that she would be named as one of the team Captains. If it wasn’t for Hailey learning to love the game we probably wouldn’t have had a team. So as a four year player (goalie), who has seen over 2,000 shots approximately and still has 10 games left in this season. Is a leader on and off the ice and has the respect of her fellow teammates and coaches. This is why, I nominate Hailey as, The 2023 Hobey Baker Award winner.
