Grant Smith
2023 | New Jersey | BOYS
Manasquan Ice Hockey | Warriors | BOYS
This year Manasquan’s Hobey Baker nomination is for Grant Smith. Grant is part of the Manasquan hockey family and attends the Marine Academy of Science and Technology. They strive to develop literate, ethical and productive members of society empowered to meet the challenges of a global community by providing a rigorous academic environment with a core specialization in marine science and technology. Grant was an easy decision to be one of our co-captains this season. His teamwork, dedication, exceptional play, humility and character set him apart. He meets all the criteria for this prestigious award. He is coachable, friendly, approachable, and most of all displays great respect for our game. He always plays with class and respect. Grant is the true student athlete. Always puts the student before the athlete, but manages to handle both extremely well. He also volunteers inside the community and has been a big part of our teams off ice giving. He contributed to both our fundraiser and game vs. the Brick Stars (a team of special needs hockey players) and also participated in our books and bears holiday collection for children at our local hospital. He is a wonderful young man, deserving of this honor and has a character that is second to none. Like Hobey, Grant is a gentleman sportsman, who plays our game with courage, honor and humility. I thank you in advance for accepting this nomination for Grant Smith.
