Gerry was named the team captain at the beginning of the season. He has always been a great teammate and friend. This season Gerry was a strong voice when it was needed. His lead by example mentality showed when an unfortunate situation happened at the beginning of the season.

During an injury fund scrimmage, Gerry felt a pop in his knee. The injury looked bad and he was forced to walk around on crutches for days. He remained positive and insisted he would be back. After an MRI revealed that he had injured his ACL/MCL and would eventually require surgery it was feared his senior season was lost. The doctors told him that after some initial tests to try and strengthen it by slowly building back to hockey activities. When the doctors cleared him, he did just that. He ended up returning to game action and continues to fight through the injury.

Never complaining and always working hard, he is a great example of a great teammate and leader.
