It is with great pleasure and without reservation that I write this letter of support for Emily Herdine.

Emily is a committed and dedicated individual who always gives her best. She is a complete team player and focuses all her efforts on being the best for the team. She has been asked to fill many roles and has been asked to be a forward as well as defenseman. She willingly accepted and exceled in all roles and positions. In fact, she may be the walking definition of “committed to excellenceâ€_x009d_. As her ice hockey coach, I have the opportunity to see these attributes illuminate Emily’s character. Her commitment and personality made her a natural leader who has been the glue to our team chemistry. This is evident to me as I watch her lead her team, prepare herself, and play the game. She always acknowledges her teammates successes and positively impacts their experience.

What really impresses me about Emily is how thoroughly she understands “true successâ€_x009d_. True success is giving all your energy and efforts to accomplishing your goals while playing because of the passion you have for the sport. Emily plays for the love of the game and to make her team the best that it can be. Her commitment, attitude, approach or work ethic never wavered when asked to play a different position, fulfill a different role or became injured. She continued to show up, play and push herself to improve while supporting her teammates. This expresses to me that she will commit to her passions and stay committed. For this reason, she would be the perfect recipient of the Hobey Baker award. Emily will represent the award with class, commitment, and passion.

Emily combines an excellent work ethic, with boundless enthusiasm, a commitment to her work, and passion for the game to become a “model athleteâ€_x009d_ to coach. She always finds the positives and continues to work through adversity. Emily never settles and will do whatever it takes to be successful. These attributes will lead her to success in all endeavors.

Emily’s integrity, leadership and professionalism are of the highest order. You will continually be impressed with the work she will complete. She believes you do a job once, thorough, and until it is complete. She spends the extra time and puts in the extra effort. Hallmarks of Emily’s character are high standards and values for herself, her warm personality, her great work ethic, and her self-directed nature.
