I have had the pleasure of knowing and coaching Emilie Bartels for the past 5 years as a student-athlete. Emilie is a very gifted person who has done an outstanding job in the classroom and on the ice. She has always been committed to being the best and raising the bar high for herself and others.
Emilie has strong values that guide her sensational decision-making. She views the world in a very responsible manner. As a result, she is respected in the school and in the athletic community. Emilie is always willing to help others, is selfless, consistent and is always willing to put in the extra work and effort.
Emilie is very reliable and always can be counted on. Emilie truly excels in the classroom earning one of the highest GPA’s on our team. As a coach and teacher, I know I can always rely on Emilie because of her reliability and her willingness to do what’s best for the team.
Emilie has been a tremendous teammate as well. As our seasons progressed, her teammates looked more and more to Emilie for her leadership. Emilie has set an excellent example for our younger players of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication both on the ice and in the classroom.
Emilie has outstanding qualities that are very evident on a daily basis. I believe she will succeed at whatever she sets her mind to. Therefore, I think Emilie Bartels is an excellent candidate for the Hobey Baker Award.
