Drew is the definition of what this award stands for. Adversity builds character and character builds excellence and character makes the game better. He worked so hard on and off the ice to make the team this year which was an accomplishment in itself. His commitment to the weight room and his on ice training was very noticeable by our staff and his peers. He went from being a player that was on the outside looking in his senior to a kid that we couldn’t imagine the team without him. Drew is one of the most coachable kids that I have had the pleasure to be around. He was a sponge and was willing to do whatever it took for the team. This young man suffered a season ending injury in game 2 which was heart breaking for our staff and his teammates because of the respect everyone has for him. The integrity he shown before the injury was enough to receive this award but this kid has gone above and beyond his duty as a teammate, he hasn’t missed a game or practice since and he continues to be positive and major support system for his teammates. The strength of his character is unmatched, a lot has been thrown at him and he continues to be an amazing human being that is going to do great things in life.
