Daran was selected because of his upstanding work ethic. He is a great example of a coachable, hard working goaltender. His positive attitude and drive to be better is very prevalent in every practice and every game he is in. He has great communication skills with his teammates and is very supportive in the locker room and on the ice. He also is a strong and reassuring mentor to other goalies, showing and discussing his art of goaltending with them. Daran is academically strong and takes his studies very seriously. With the above mentioned in mind he is a well rounded selection for this award.
