Connor DuBois
2014 | Maryland | BOYS
Mt. Hebron High School | Mt. Hebron Vikings | BOYS
As the head coach of Mt. Hebron High School Ice Hockey Team, I am very proud to nominate Connor DuBois from Mt. Hebron for the 2014 Hobet Baker Award.
It has been a long time since Mt. Hebron High School Ice Hockey Team was a top team in the Howard County League, but Connor DuBois, through his exceptional hockey skills, desire to be part of the team, and excellent leadership abilities, has proven to be an integral part of the team’s success in the 4 years he has been on the team. Since Connor joined the team as a freshman, the team has increasingly gotten better and been more successful—Wins have gone up, Goals For have gone up, Goals Against have gone down, and our Goal Differential is now positive – see enclosure. I contribute all of these positive statistics to Connor being on the team and his performance at every game.
Connor is a skilled and gifted player who plays exceptionally hard every shift and is without a doubt the team’s leader (which is why the team selected him as their Captain for the past 3 years). His performance on the ice not only made him become the team’s top goal scorer, but also one of the top goal scorers in the HoCo league– which is a huge accomplishment considering he is a defenseman on a historically “bad” team! To my knowledge, Connor has only missed 1 game in 4 years, has attended almost all our practices, has helped coaching the lesser-skilled players on the team, and has participated in all of our community service events (2 per season). Connor also helps the team through his actions off the ice–He aids and supports his fellow teammates through his positive attitude and fun sense of humor.
Connor is not just a skilled hockey player and an excellent lacrosse player, but more importantly a tremendous young man and an outstanding student (4.1 weighted GPA). He has a great attitude and viewpoint on life in general. After high school, Connor will attend Florida Institute of Technology where he will study Acoustical Engineering and play lacrosse for the school. He will be greatly missed by his peers, coaches, and fans.
