Colden was named Captain of this years hockey team. He was chosen for his character, approachability, and thoughtful leadership but we didn’t realize is how deep those traits went. On the ice he leads our team in points and provides outstanding sportsmanship and character while playing. Off the ice he has brought together a very young hockey team that needs rides to practice, pregame meals and a variety of other things that young players don’t always remember. This is truly where he excels because this is a thankless job but it is so essential for developing young hockey players that need to learn the behaviors and ideals that make a quality them quality players. We as coaches can’t always be in those situations to provide what these players need when they are away from the rink but Colden has always been there for the team to build the character that we need. He doesn’t realize that he is very quietly building the next set of leaders by showing them how to support team members in any way you can. For this reason he is the High School Hobey Baker Award winner for the 2022-2023 Mount Saint Charles Boys Hockey team.
